Tour Of Lights Begins This Friday With The Help Of CORE Community Center

After reports of vandalism and theft on the Frankfort Main Street Santa Express toward the end of November, the tour of lights was placed on hold while the Main Street team searched for an alternative to keep the Christmas magic alive in Frankfort.

The Santa Express was taken out of commission due to reports of vandalism and theft during the last week of November as the team was removing the trailer from storage to sanitize and prepare for the upcoming tour of lights season. Main Street recently announced that the tour of lights will kick off this weekend, Friday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the help of CORE Community Center, which offered two buses for the team to utilize for the Christmas season.

As a result, the tour of the Festival of Lights at TPA Park is resuming this year, and community members should contact Kim Stevens, Frankfort Main Street Executive Director, at 765-654-4081 to reserve their spot on the tour.

This year will mark the 13th year that the Santa Express has been operational, and due to the vandalism and theft as well as the investigation that was launched into the incident, Stevens expressed that she was unsure whether the opportunity would be available this year. Due to CORE’s offer for the buses to be utilized, families from across Indiana will be provided the experience once more.

“Thank you to CORE for helping us keep this 13-year tradition alive,” Main Street released in a statement.
