The Frankfort Parks Department announced that the Fourth of July Festival at TPA Park will experience some delays with activities beginning at 1 p.m. with the evening schedule currently set to continue as set.

The festivities kicked off with a Pound and Zumba class from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., but Frankfort Parks Department Superintendent Joel Tatum announced around 10:30 a.m. that the welcome ceremony, rendition of the National Anthem and the Canines in the Clouds shows will be postponed to kick off around 1 p.m. rather than 11 a.m.

”We are going to postpone everything to 1 p.m.,” Tatum said. “We will have the welcoming at 1 p.m. with the singing of the National Anthem. Hopefully the raining will be done by then and we’ll get everything open and we’ll go from there. We’ll still have the dog shows at 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 as well as the bands at 4:30 just like we planned.”

Vendors and bounce houses will be opened to the public beginning at 11 a.m. with three shows of Canines in the Clouds at 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., followed by Midnight Redeye at 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Levi Riggs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at TPA Park bandstands.

The community will then be treated to the finale fireworks show at 10 p.m. by the Frankfort Jaycees. Tatum mentioned that the fireworks are still looking to be displayed on time.

”Everything is covered right now,” Tatum said. “We just hope for the best and keep everything dry because if it’s not dry, obviously they don’t shoot off correctly. We have had that happen before, but we are trying our best to keep everything dry and keep everything going so we can definitely shoot them off at 10 p.m. like we’re supposed to.”
