At approximately 1:24 a.m. Thursday on I-65 southbound near the 171 mile marker (that is one mile south of the SR 26/172 exit) a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation and ended up in a pursuit that concluded in Clinton County and the recovery of a stolen vehicle.
Trooper Devin Farmer was stationary in the cross over on the interstate at the 171 MM when he saw a gray 2013 Hyundai Sonata SB exceeding the posted speed limit. Trooper Farmer attempted to catch up to the vehicle and he activated his emergency lights. They started to speed up and Trooper Farmer advised the Hyundai would not stop. He continued to follow the vehicle into Clinton County where a deputy deployed stop sticks in an attempt to slow the vehicle. The Hyundai avoided the stop sticks at the 158 MM and then slowed and came to a stop at the 156 MM.
The driver, later identified as Treshawn L. Hill, 21 of Harvey, IL was taken into custody and arrested for;
- Aggressive Driving
- Operating While Intoxicated
- Operating While Intoxicated-Endangerment
- Reckless Driving
- Resisting Law Enforcement
- Theft of Vehicle
Hill was incarcerated in the Tippecanoe County Jail. The two passengers were released.
