Traffic Shift Starting on or After May 30 for Phase Four Project in Boone County

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the traffic shift for Phase 4 of the I-65 added travel lanes project in Boone County has been rescheduled. Starting on or after Tuesday, May 30, the northbound and southbound lanes of I-65 will be restricted to two, 11-foot lanes in each direction between mile marker 141 and mile marker 146.5 (S.R. 32 to S.R. 47). During this phase, crews will be constructing the northbound, outside lanes and shoulders. The restrictions will be in effect through late December, weather permitting.

Two travel lanes will be maintained in both the northbound and southbound direction. Traffic will be controlled by temporary barriers.

Now, starting on or after Tuesday, May 30, the I-65 northbound exit ramp and entrance ramp at State Road 47 will close. It’s expected to reopen after the end of December.

This contract was awarded to E & B Paving, LLC for over $83.7 million. It also includes bridge replacements near U.S. 52, a bridge removal near Lafayette Avenue, culvert work and drainage construction on I-65. The entire project is expected to be completed in December of 2023.
