Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest of Ohio Man

At 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the Indiana State Police arrested an Ohio man on numerous charges after guns and drugs were located in his vehicle during a traffic stop on I-65 in Tippecanoe County.

Trooper Michael Risley conducted a traffic stop on a Buick LeSabre on I-65 Northbound near the 181 mile marker in Tippecanoe County. During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Risley became suspicious of criminal activity taking place, due to the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, troopers located approximately 42 grams of suspected marijuana, and a handgun. As a result, the driver of the vehicle, Kevin T. Jones, age, 48 , Columbus OH was arrested at the scene. He was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail.

Jones was being held on charges of Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Level 4 Felony, Possession of Marijuana, Class A Misdemeanor, and Possession of Firearm without a permit, Class A Misdemeanor.
