Carol Bartley, Beth Keeney and Josh Lee all filed paperwork Wednesday to run for political election in Clinton County for 2020.
Bartley, who is seeking re-election for the office of Clinton County Treasurer, was the first to file Wednesday. This will be her second term in office.
Keeney filed to run for re-election to the Clinton County Recorder’s office.
“I would like to continue some of the updating of the office of the Recorder,” said Keeney. “In the next few years. I took office in January of 2017 and by May of 2017 we moved away from the old stamp recordings to printing labels for each document recorded. Also, in May we began accepting documents electronically which did not require transferring land. We hired a company to digitize our 7 years of microfilm. Our office staff is presently working on back indexing those documents. It is a long and tedious job, which they work on when we are not busy doing our daily work or helping people searching for documents.
“In August of this year, with the cooperation of several other offices in our courthouse, we began taking documents which do transfer property electronically,” she continued. “It has been a very smooth process and several businesses have taken advantage of this modern way to record documents without postage, delay time with documents rejection and they receive their documents back the same day. I would like to add the ability to take credit and debit cards as payment. We are working with a company on that presently awaiting the approval of the Commissioners. We look forward to making things more convenient for the taxpayers.”
Lee filed his paperwork to become Clinton County Coroner. When he moved his family back to Frankfort in 2017 to become a funeral director with Goodwin Funeral Home and Archer-Weston Funeral and Cremation Center he made it his mission to give back to his community. Through his training as a funeral director and the skills he has acquired being deputy coroner he wants to bring the focus back to the family.
“I have dedicated my life to caring for grieving families”, said Lee.
Lee considers it a blessing to be able to serve the people of this community. It is his promise to be a dependable coroner that will work diligently to give the citizens a voice, but remains frugal with your tax money. The four pillars of his campaign are investigation, family, education, and communication. While focusing on those pillars, he is confident he can bring the dignity the office deserves.
“This campaign would not be possible without the citizens of Clinton County,” said Lee. “Thank you to everyone that came and supported me this morning. A special thank you goes to my Campaign Manager, Phil Stoops, and my wife, Mattie Lee, for believing in me on this endeavor.”
