Two Frankfort Police Officers to Be Recognized

KALEB THOMPSON
TYYON NEAL

Police Officers Kaleb Thompson and Tyyon Neal will be presented with the prestigious Lifesaving Award at noon on Thursday, December 14 at the Frankfort Police Department in recognition of their heroic actions that saved a man attempting suicide.

According to Police Chief Troy Bacon, Thompson and Neal were dispatched to the 400 block of S Harrison Street while on patrol on August 8th to check on a man who was possibly suicidal. Thompson and Neal, along with Police Officers Danner and Pickrell, arrived at the scene and began searching for the man.

Thompson and Neal located the man in a nearby garage with a cord around his neck. As Thompson was speaking with the man, the man jumped from an elevated position and hung from his neck. Thompson burst through the door and lifted the man, relieving the cords tension and allowing him to breathe. While Thompson was holding the man, Neal removed the cord from around the man’s neck.

“Officers Thompson and Neal used their training, skill and dedication in this very critical situation to save a man’s life. In recognition of their courageous actions, professionalism and caring commitment, we are proud to present our Lifesaving Award to Officer Kaleb Thompson and Officer Tyyon Neal during a special ceremony on December 14.” Bacon said.

Thompson joined the Frankfort Police Department on May 13, 2015 and Neal on November 28, 2016.
