The Zonta Club of Frankfort has invited the community to recognize the accomplishments and legacy of Amelia Earhart, a famed pilot and Zontian, alongside presentations of two Purdue University students who are recipients of the $10,000 Amelia Earhart Fellowship that is awarded to up to 30 women pursuing doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space studies every year.
Zonta International stands as a leading global organization of individuals working together to build a better world for women and girls. The Amelia Earhart Fellowship was established in 1938 in honor of Earhart, and up to 30 women pursuing doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space studies every year are awarded a scholarship through the fellowship. The list of 2024 fellowships includes two Purdue University students, Margaret Deahn and Stephanie Menten, who are both from the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at Purdue.
The Zonta Club of Frankfort has invited Deahn and Menten to present at the annual Amelia Earhart program scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Frankfort Community Public Library Skanta Theatre.
The public has been invited to attend the free program and celebrate the legacy of Earhart alongside the fellowship recipients.
