At 3:47 p.m. Thursday, deputies from the Howard County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to County Road 600 West and State Road 22 reference a traffic crash. Upon arrival two vehicles were discovered to be involved in a crash at the intersection.
From evidence at the scene and witness statements it appeared a Red 2006 Honda CRV driven by Brando Wheeler age 56 of Kokomo, was driving westbound on State Road 22. Witnesses stated the Honda crossed the center line and collided with a Green 1998 Dodge Ram truck that was eastbound on State Road 22. The Dodge was driven by Ronald Fortner age 82 of Kokomo and the passenger in the vehicle was identified as Donald Wright age 85 of Kokomo. All three occupants of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Steve Seele.
The case is still under investigation by the Howard County Coroner’s Office. The sheriff’s department was assisted at the scene by Galveston Fire Department, St. Vincent Medics, Howard County Emergency Management and the Howard County Coroner’s Office.
