United Way Holds Kickoff Breakfast at Arborwood

United Way Campaign Chair Jack Ransom addresses the crowd at the Kickoff Breakfast Thursday morning.

The United Way 2019 Campaign Kickoff appears to be off and running as a big crowd attended the Kickoff Breakfast Thursday morning at Arborwood.

“It’s been a great morning,” said 2019 Campaign Chair Jack Ransom. “We’ve had probably one of the largest crowds we’ve ever had for a United Way Kickoff Breakfast. It just shows that folks are interested in just building a better community. For the most part, everyone here today was a volunteer.”

Ransom said United Way plans to build a better community through education, financial stability and health. He also presented numbers from this year’s Pacesetter Campaign which showed an increase over last year with the possibility of adding more donations. At this time, this year’s Pacesetter Campaign has brought in $98,170 compared to $96,307 a year ago.

“The Pacesetter gives us a little feel for what the community spirit is and what the community feel is for contributions at this point and time,” said Ransom. “We have surpassed the goal from last year. I think it is an indication that we’re off to a good start.”

The overall campaign goal this year is $450,000.

United Way provides solutions to communities’ toughest problems. Today’s United Way is bringing people, organizations and communities together around a common cause, a common vision and a common path forward. They are building up the cornerstones of health, education and financial stability.

“We want to make the health, education and financial stability of everyone in Clinton County better,” said Ransom. “To do that, we’re going to try and raise $450,000 this next year to support those agencies that provide these services.”
