Claude and Mary Ellen Marley stepped up to the checkout counter at the Frankfort Walmart this week. They pulled out a brand new credit card to pay the $31.00 bill. Claude’s new card was declined. Mary Ellen pulled out her new card. It was also declined. The cards were so new, they had not been activated yet, but that is not the end of the story.
It turns out a kind observant shopper in line behind the Marleys picked up on what was happening and quickly came to the rescue. “I’ll take care of it” she volunteered. Not only was it a kind gesture that saved the Marleys time and trouble…but the unknown helpful volunteer had no idea this random act of kindness was done on Claude Marley’s 90th birthday.
The Marley’s asked for the address of the helping hand but no amount of asking resulted in a name or address.
The Marley’s had little else to do but thank the helper, be on thier way and smile about the birthday present, thankful for the kindness of an anonymous Frankfort shopper helping someone on thier 90th birthday at the Frankfort Walmart.
”I guess we have helped a lot of people too” they said. The Marleys share this story with Clinton County Daily News with the hope of spreading the good word and encourage the next person down the road to pay it forward when the time comes.
