The Utility Service Board unanimously approved a six-year agreement Monday night with ACCS for new email service with the City of Frankfort. The new agreement will cost $18,274 which will be split annually between the USB and the City.
“It’s similar to what we have now,” said USB General Manager Todd Corrie. “We’re going to have somebody else host it. Our equipment was getting old and we were going to have to look at replacing it. When our email goes down, it’s a major uproar with everybody.”
The USB also named Phil Farrel to replace Mike Myers as the electric superintendent. Myers has been with the USB for more than 40 years.
“He (Phil) has been a lineman for 32 years,” said Corrie. “He knows his stuff, knows his guys and he knows his crews. We’re looking forward to him coming in and filling the shoes.”
Corrie added Farrel will be out working with his crews.
“Our concern is when a big storm or something comes through and it needs to be all hands on deck,” said Corrie. “We can have people in here answering the phones. He could be out helping his crews to get everything back up and operating.”
At the last meeting in December, the USB accepted 23 bids on three water projects. Corrie said that will be dealt with at the January 18 meeting.
