Former Utility Billing Office Purchased for $71,000

Downtown Frankfort is about to have a tenant soon as Digital Farms Management, LLC, has purchased the former Utility Billing Office at 16 N. Main St. for $71,000, it was announced at Monday’s Board of Works meeting.

Digital Farms Management, LLC outbid C.A. Taylor for the building that was originally appraised at $60,000.

“I’m excited about that,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets about the purchase. “We had it appraised and it was appraised for $60,000. We cannot sell it for anything less than the appraisal. I’m looking forward to see what they do to it. I think it’s going to be a great improvement to the downtown.”

In other news, the Board of Works elected to take under advisement a request by Susan Kaspar of State Farm Insurance to turn both Doyal and Taylor Streets from one way to two ways.

Board of Works members wanted to wait and see how the State Road 28 project, which is currently going on in the area, turns out and Board Member Greg Miller says that could take up to 90 days to be completed.

Other action taken by the Board of Works included:

  • Approval of a mural to be put on the side of the VFW which will feature Frankfort City Police and Fire Department emblems.
  • Awarded the 50/50 sidewalk bids to Campos Construction.
  • Approved two special events for the Parks Department — Curt Day Memorial (Horseshoe) Tournament on May 29 at Dorner Park and the Gem City Band for July 4 at TPA Park.
  • Approved the same contract the City Council approved with HWC Design for the proposed Aquatic Center.
  • Approved the purchase of 36 golf cart batteries and seven irrigation heads for the golf course along with a purchase of a Cushman Turf vehicle.
