Vancil L. Stephenson

Vancil L. Stephenson, 87, of Colfax, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born November 11, 1935, in Monticello, Kentucky, Vancil was the son of Ball and Mamie (Parmely) Stephenson.  On July 25, 1965, he married Juanita Hollars, and she survives.

Vancil worked for Colfax Grain Elevator and was also a handyman.  He was also known as a “jack of all trades, master of none.”

He is survived by his wife, Juanita, and son, Vance, of Colfax; one sister, Vela Stephenson of Monticello, Kentucky; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Elsie and Tom Goode, Geneva and Floyd Roberts and Shannon and Loretta Hollars, all of Frankfort; brother-in-law, Curt Peterson of Rossville; many nieces and nephews; and close friends, John and Vicki Randall, Shirley Cox, and Janea Rich.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Vester (Bea) Stephenson, Cecil (Marie) Stephenson, Bruce (Audrey) Stephenson, Dexter Stephenson, Jerlene (Elvis) Parmely, and sister-in-law, Jan Peterson.

Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2022, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax, with Pastor Alan Downing officiating.  Memorials in Vancil’s honor may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.  Messages of condolence to the family are welcomed at www.gendafuneralhome.com.
