Vehicle Accident Results in Serious Bodily Injury

On April 28th, 2025, at approximately 3:11 PM, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Thorntown Police Department were dispatched to a multiple vehicle accident with entrapment. The accident occurred in the North 6500 block of US 52.
Upon arrival, first responders located a trash service truck and a blue Subaru Legacy sedan in the roadway. The occupants of the Subaru consisted of three juvenile children and one adult female driver. The three juvenile children were already out of the vehicle before law enforcement arrived due to the help of good Samaritans. The female driver, whose name is being withheld until further notice, was located unconscious still inside the vehicle.
The preliminary investigation revealed the trash service truck was stopped in the southbound lane on US 52, servicing a residence. The Subaru was traveling south and, for an unknown reason, rear-ended the truck.
The occupants of the trash service truck were treated on scene with minor injuries. The three juveniles were transported to local hospitals with serious bodily injuries. The female driver was also transported to a local hospital with serious bodily injuries. The Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was requested to investigate the accident. The accident is under investigation and updates will be provided when available.
