Veterans Day Activities in Downtown Frankfort Announced

Officials from VFW 1110 and American Legion Post #12 have announced activities for Veterans Day at Veterans Park in downtown Frankfort on Monday, November 12 beginning at 10:30 a.m. This is the 100th year celebration of Veterans Day, which began in 1918.

The following is the schedule of events for the Veterans Day celebration: Master of Ceremonies — Mel Betts, American Legion Post 12; Invocation — Rev. Craig Overman, Kilmore UMC; National Anthem — Jacque Clemons; Pledge of Allegiance — Opal Bower, American Legion Post 12; Introductions — Mel Betts, American Legion Post 12; Decorating of the mound — Any individuals, clubs, organizations; Medley of songs — Frankfort High School, Jason Hutton, Director; Reading — Millard See, Sons of the American Legion Post 12; 11 a.m. Firing — Marine Corps League #967; Taps — Rockie Matz, Post 1110 Auxiliary; Veteran’s Day Address — Sgt. Dustin Holycross, Indiana National Guard; and Benediction — Rev. Craig Overman, Kilmore UMC.

Anyone wanting to decorate the mound will be responsible for delivering and removing all wreaths after the ceremony.

Soups and sandwiches will be served at the VFW, 309 N. Main St., after the program has been completed. Dinner will be served at the American Legion Post 12 from 6-7:30 p.m. for all Veterans and one guest.
