Virginia (Daniels) Caldwell of Thorntown passed away July 22, 2022, at the age of 81. She was born August 1, 1940, at Middlefork, Indiana. Her parents were the late Roy and Margaret (Kanable) Daniels. She graduated from Thorntown High School in 1958. She married Lelan “Red” Caldwell on July 19, 1959. They were married 57 years prior to his death in 2017. Virginia worked at Federal Mogul in Frankfort, Indiana and retired after 33 years.
Virginia was a very caring person who loved taking care of everyone and everything. This included two crazy, slightly evil stray cats. Virginia enjoyed her family, baking, and sewing. She was also full of sass and vinegar. She stayed sassy right up to the end. This sass is a strong genetic trait as it has been carried on to her daughters and granddaughters. She taught us well.
She is survived by her children. Tim (Roberta) Caldwell, Tina (Craig) Clanton, Tom (Angie) Caldwell, and Tracy (Jeff) VanHook; grandchildren, Brandon Foxworthy, Austin (Jazmynn) Foxworthy, Justin (Courtney) Foxworthy, Holly Foxworthy, Grace Foxworthy, Ben Foxworthy, Cameron Clanton, Carlie Clanton, Kylie VanHook, and Jesse VanHook; great grandchildren, Evelyne and Landon Foxworthy, Cooper Clanton, and Piper and Bryson Foxworthy; brother, Robert (Mary) Daniels; sisters, Carol Tolen and Betty Smith; sister-in-law, Marilyn Daniels; and seven nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Daniels, as well as an infant brother and sister, brothers-in-law, Robert Moffit, Max Smith, and Harry Coffman; sisters-in-law, Joan Moffit, Carolyn Coffman; and a great niece, Lindsay (Moffit) Landon.
Private funeral services will be held at Myers and Hunt Mortuary in Thorntown, Indiana. Interment will follow services at Bethel Hill Cemetery in Thorntown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to New Beginnings Church in Thorntown or to the Thorntown Christian Church.
