Walton Wilson Jr., 82, of Frankfort, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born May 23, 1938, in Elwood, Indiana to Walton and Virginia (McNew) Wilson. On April 11, 1982, Walt married Mildred (Thornton) Smart.
Walt graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1956. He attended Indiana University for two years and while there, Walt was a drummer with the Marching 100. Walt went on to serve in the United States Army in Germany from 1958-61. Walt retired as a machinist from Chrysler Corporation after 35 years.
Walt was a member of Heart on Fire Church where he was a past deacon. He was also honored as a drummer at the church for 30 years. He was a member of the U.A.W. Walt loved jazz music, golf, and old Westerns.
Walt is survived by his wife; son Danny (Gloria) Seward of Arkansas; daughters Julie Rikard of Arkansas and Sheila (Dave) Whiteman of Frankfort; brother Kent Wilson of Frankfort, grandchildren Zack, Jennifer, Cody, Candace, Tyler, Ashlynn, and Levi; and six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kenny Dalton, and sisters Brenda Smith and Betty Stoddard
Visitation will be held, Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm at Genda Funeral Home-Frankfort. Pastor Tony Prathaftakis will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
In adherence to the current CDC guidelines, it is requested that guests follow the appropriate social distancing and the wearing of masks. Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is entrusted with the arrangements.
