On Sunday, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by St. Elizabeth Hospital Emergency Room concerning a sexual assault that had occurred on County Road 0 N/S, Clinton County. The female victim had been sexually assaulted while attending an event. Deputies responded to the hospital, as well as the location where the alleged assault had occurred.
Once deputies had obtained suspect information, they located the individual at his residence in West Lafayette. The suspect cooperated with law enforcement. After an interview was conducted, Detective Dan Roudebush arrested the suspect for Rape, a Level 3 Felony. The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Richard Chan of New Jersey.
Detective Sergeant Roudebush, Deputy Yoder and Deputy Blackwell worked this case. Assisting the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office was St. Elizabeth Hospital and Purdue University Police Department. Official charges are pending from the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.
