Whitestown Firefighters Donate Hair To Children With Hair Loss Non-Profit

Three Whitestown firefighters continued their tradition this year by growing their hair throughout the year and donating their locks to the Children With Hair Loss non-profit organization.

Firefighters Lauinger, Ross and Zuniga have continued their tradition of donating their hair over the past several years to benefit the Children With Hair Loss non-profit that provides human hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults experiencing medically-related hair loss due to cancer treatments, alopecia, trichotillomania, burns and other conditions.

The idea reportedly originated at the Whitestown Fire Department when firefighter Stephen Ross donated his hair to the non-profit.

“Although they might be reaching for their winter hats soon, their sacrifice will make a significant difference,” the department released.

Community members interested in donating hair or making a monetary donation to Children With Hair Loss may visit childrenwithhairloss.org.
