The Whitestown Parks and Recreation Department invited the community to join them at the Wrecks Park Public Meeting last night to discuss the renderings for the Wrecks Property that is being altered into a park with numerous attractions.
The park is a new development plan for the site of the former Wrecks Inc. automobile junkyard located along Indianapolis Road. The Town worked to address environmental concerns at the property over the last few years, and in 2022, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management issued a Certificate of Completion for the site.
The park only covers a portion of the Wrecks Property and will not affect other future developments, but the 12 to 14 acre park will offer a variety of amenities that have been developed utilizing feedback provided by the community.
The plan currently includes a basketball and pickleball area, a splash pad, a playground, picnic shelters, an amphitheater, a neighborhood screen, an open sports field and more. For the park rendering presented to the community last night, see the picture below.
