Whitestown Teams Work To Combat Invasive Species Along Big 4 Trail

The Town of Whitestown has announced that recently, the Boone County Invasives Cooperative and the Parks Department maintenance team partnered to clear more invasive plant species from the Big 4 Trail.

The team has expanded from removing only honeysuckle to removing poison hemlock as well. To ensure that the invasive plant does not return, the team utilized a 2% glyphosate solution that was sprayed on the first year basal rosettes to eliminate any new growth and seed production for the species.

In late April and early May, the teams will tackle the second year plants before they have a chance to flower.
