William Edward “Ed” Eldridge, 81, of Thorntown, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Wabash, Indiana on November 27, 1943, a son of the late Lawrance R. Eldridge and Helen (Gretzieger) Eldridge.
He was married to Margaret (Mitchell) Eldridge on February 14, 1985, in Hendricks County, Indiana; she survives.
Ed was in the Indiana National Guard. He was employed as a machine operator at Nic Pac in Mooresville, Indiana for 16 years. Ed also worked at Red Lobster in Indianapolis for 19 years.
A devoted husband and father, Ed enjoyed being with his family. His hobbies and interests included fishing, watching wrestling and auto racing, and he was an avid IU fan.
Survivors include his loving wife, Margaret; children, Sue Eldridge of Bunker Hill, Tonya Wright of Indianapolis, and Ivan Eldridge of Missouri; stepdaughter, Tamara (Randy) Betzler of Indianapolis; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and brother, Harold L. Eldridge of New Jersey.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Eugene Eldridge and sister, Mary Helen Schelfer.
No services are planned. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
