Wilma L. Forney

Wilma L. Forney, 90, a former Rossville resident, died July 20, 2020 at Mulberry Health, Mulberry, Ind.  She was born January 28, 1930 in Cambria, Indiana to William & Edna (Bible) Woodruff.  She married Walter Max Forney on July 8, 1948 and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2008.

Wilma graduated from Rossville High School in 1948.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Frankfort.  She had several job experiences but best remembered working as bookkeeper for Rockwood Manufacturing in Rossville for 14 years, Milner Healthcare for 8 years, Clinton County Auditor’s Office for many years and as secretary at First Baptist Church.  She also worked as a greeter for Goodwin Funeral Home.  Wilma and Walter also operated “Forney’s Roost” restaurant and ice cream stand in Rossville for many years.  She was also very active in the Rossville Order of Eastern Star, holding many offices including Worthy Matron.  She and Walter enjoyed many relationships made while in Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge and the Murat Shrine and they traveled regularly to attend regular meetings, special events, and served as delegates to national conventions.

The family wants to thank those who looked in on her throughout her journey with dementia until she could not be on her own, especially Gary Myers and Linda Lewis.  The family wants to also thank the 100 Unit Staff at Mulberry Health Care.  Their daily care for Mom never wavered as she continued her journey.  She was always treated with the same dignity from her first day to her last.  They are special people.

Surviving Family includes her 3 Sons: James Max (Janine) Forney of Des Plaines, IL, William Daniel (Billie) Forney of Lafayette, and Walter Joseph (Ann) Forney of Angola; Sister: Glenda Kyger of Lafayette; 2 Brothers: Cleo (Betty) Woodruff of Florida and Harold (Virginia) Woodruff of Frankfort; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Clinton, Fred and Kenneth Woodruff and a sister, Sarah ‘Sally’ Ellen Kingsolver.

Friends may visit 1 – 2:45 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2020 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort.  Order of Eastern Star memorial service will begin at 2:45 p.m. followed by Funeral Services beginning at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.  Pastor Chuck Williams will officiate.  The family asks that in accordance with guidelines, visitors maintain social distancing and that a mask be worn.  Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Frankfort, at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made in Wilma’s honor to the First Baptist Church, 301 S.
