Wilma Maxine Tarner, 93, of Indianapolis, formerly of Frankfort, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020, at Altenheim in Indianapolis. She was born in Clinton County on May 9, 1927 to Orvan and Lanora (Quick) Strawn. She married Paul Tarner on May 3, 1950. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1980.
Wilma graduated in 1945 from Michigantown High School with honors. She spent most of her life in the Michigantown area. Wilma was a member of WCTU for over 50 years and a former member of Michigantown Wesleyan church and Frankfort Wesleyan church. After moving to Indianapolis 15 years ago, she became a member of Southeastern Holiness Church.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Rachael (husband, Michael) Tryon; daughter-in-law, Jean Tarner; grandchildren, Jennifer Tarner, Wesley (Brandi) Tarner, David (Jessica) Tryon and Lori Tryon, and great-grandsons, Jacob Tarner and Dylan Tryon and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a son Michael Tarner.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Southeastern Holiness Church at 3957 Southeastern Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46203. The funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 am, also at the church with Pastors Ron Stevens and Harrold Taylor officiating. A local graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at 3:00 pm, at the Whiteman Cemetery in Michigantown with burial following.
In adherence to the current CDC guidelines, it is requested that guests follow the appropriate social distancing and the wearing of masks.
