The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for much of central Indiana, including Clinton County, with strong winds expected throughout the day Friday.
According to the advisory, southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are forecast. The advisory will be in effect from 5 a.m. Friday until 8 p.m. EDT Friday.
The strongest winds are expected across north central Indiana, but gusty conditions will impact a large portion of the region.
Counties included in the advisory include Carroll, Warren, Tippecanoe, Clinton, Howard, Fountain, Montgomery, Boone, Tipton, Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Vermillion, Parke, Putnam, Hendricks, Marion, Hancock, Henry, Vigo, Clay, Owen, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, Rush, Sullivan, Greene, Monroe, Brown, Bartholomew, and Decatur counties.
Officials warn that gusty winds may blow around unsecured outdoor objects, break tree limbs, and could lead to isolated power outages.
Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, should use extra caution as strong crosswinds could make travel difficult.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and stay alert for changing weather conditions throughout the day.
