The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Clinton County from 2 p.m. Friday afternoon to 4 a.m. Saturday.
Besides Clinton, other affected areas will be Carroll, Delaware, Fountain, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Montgomery, Morgan, Parke, Putnam, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion and Warren.
Snow is expected. Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the evening commute. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected. Snow is expected generally along and north of Interstate 74. Motorists should be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.
In addition, extremely cold temperatures are on the horizon for the New Year’s holiday weekend. The high for Saturday will be 12 before temperatures begin to fall in the afternoon with northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph making wind chills 7 below to 17 below zero. Saturday night’s low will be 2 below with wind chill readings 9 below to 19 below.
The high temperature for Sunday will be 8 with wind chills being 8 below to 18 below. The low Sunday night or New Year’s Eve will be 6 below with wind chill readings 11 below to 21 below zero.
New Year’s Day will see mostly sunny conditions with a high of 3 above and wind chill readings of 11 below to 21 below zero. Monday night’s low will be 12 below and wind chill readings of 17 below to 27 below zero.
The wicked wind chills remain Tuesday morning as wind chill readings will be 15 below to 25 below zero until midday.
