Witham Health Services Celebrates National Hospital & National Nurses Week

National Hospital Week, the nation’s largest healthcare observance is May 7th-13th. This National Hospital Week, the American Hospital Association will follow the theme #WeAreHealthcare – recognizing the amazing people who work in America’s hospitals and health systems. In addition, National Nurses Week starts on May 6 and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. According to the American Nurses Association, “these permanent dates enhance planning and position National Nurses Week as an established recognition event”. Every year, nurses are recognized for their service and dedication to caring for others and improving the health of patients.

Coincidentally, Witham was officially founded on May 13, 1915. In honor of these national observances along with the celebration of Witham’s establishment in Boone County, this week has been named “Witham Week”.  To celebrate, the Witham team has employee festivities planned for each day. With Alma Mater Monday, Twin Tuesday, Witham Wear Wednesday and Superhero Thursday as a few examples, you may see some unusual dress around the Witham campuses this week. Other activities planned include selfie stations, prizes and treats to celebrate the teamwork and dedication of its employees and all they do for our community.

National Hospital and National Nurses week provides an opportunity to thank all of the dedicated individuals – physicians, nurses, therapists, engineers, food service workers, volunteers, administrators and so many more – for their contributions. Every community has healthcare professionals that work day and night to provide care on the front lines of public health while coming up with innovative ways to support the needs of their community members. Hospitals and health systems are supporting public health nationwide by ensuring equitable access to care, leading innovative research and educating the public on prevention and wellness. “This important week gives us all the opportunity to celebrate those that provide hope and healing, and who support the health and well-being of their communities through dedication and care from the heart.” said Kelly Braverman, President/CEO Witham Health Services.
