Zionsville Introduces SubDaze: A New Sandwich Shop Determined To Fill A Void

The owners of Fundae’s Ice Cream and Sweets in Boone County have revealed their next adventure, the opening of SubDaze, LLV at 640 S. Main St. S-300 in Zionsville’s South Village.

The space previously housed Sub 16, and Donny and Kas Miller saw the potential to introduce a new locally-owned sandwich shop intending to bring fresh, quality food and a friendly atmosphere to the heart of Zionsville.

The Miller’s became known in the community as the owners of Fundae’s Ice Cream and Sweets, which was founded in 2018, and their mission for SubDaze is to provide a gathering place where families, friends, coworkers and solo diners alike can enjoy a meal together. The Millers stated that the new venture began as a means to fill the voice they felt developed with the closure of Sub 16.

“When Sub 16 closed, we saw an opportunity to fill a gap,” the Millers shared. “We were there several times a week and knew Zionsville needed a spot like SubDaze. Our vision is to make this a place for family, friends, coworkers and everyone in between to come together and enjoy something as simple and delightful as a really great sandwich.”

The launch of the new venture was supported through the Boone Economic Development Corporation microloan program, which provides financing as well as connections, community development and promises to continue commitments to the local economy.

“Boone EDC looks beyond what’s on paper to understand the real needs of the community,” the Millers said. “Their support for small business has been instrumental in our journey, dating back to the opening of Fundae’s. Without Boone EDC, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

Boone EDC’s VP of Economic Development Jessica Schwarz commented about the organization’s enthusiasm as the Millers strive to bring back the enjoyment experienced at Sub 16 with a new spin.

“It’s a joy to see a small business like SubDaze come to life, especially with local entrepreneurs who are so dedicated to their community,” Schwarz said.  “Donny and Kas have already created a gathering place with Fundae’s, and we’re thrilled to support them in this new venture, knowing it will add so much value to Zionsville’s South Village.”

The menu is expected to focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients while the restaurant will focus on establishing a welcoming atmosphere for diners.
