A Zionsville Community High School student was presented with awards of appreciation from Wayne County following her efforts to provide translation for victims of a crash along I-70 in July.

On Sunday, July 28, Zionsville Community High School student Chloe Montague-Himmell came upon a serious car accident around the 143-mile-marker on westbound I-70 in Wayne County, which led her to stop and help those involved without hesitation. Montague-Himmell utilized her quick thinking and fluency in Spanish to aid EMS responders as they sought to provide proper care to the victims at the scene as the Sheriff’s Office noted that none of those involved in the accident were able to communicate in English.

“Her calm and caring approach, especially with the children involved, made a significant impact,” Zionsville Community Schools released. “Thank you, Chloe, for your courage, compassion and willingness to step up when it mattered most.”

For her efforts, Montague-Himmell was presented with a certificate of appreciation and a letter of appreciation from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
