The Community Life Center was the happening place Wednesday as WILO held its 33rd Annual Senior Fair. It was also the second straight year following COVID closing the fair down and virtually everything else in 2020. The theme of this year’s Fair was RPM (Remembering Past Music).

Those 50 years of age and older took advantage of the more than 40 booths available with a wide variety of  prizes, information along with free breakfast and lunch

“This is a lot bigger crowd than they’ve had in the past which is great,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets, who was  manning the City of Frankfort booth. “There are lot of different things here and a lot of different groups represented. I love to see the community out enjoying this and support all these different businesses.”

Clinton County Republican Party Chairman Jim Moyer has been at many Senior Fairs.

“To me, it seemed busier,” said Moyer. “Naturally, they went for the free breakfast first. When got done with that, it’s been a steady stream.”

Moyer feels the COVID hangover had a lot to do with the increased number of people.

“I think COVID had a lot to do with it,” he said.” People are now going out and they’re wanting to go places. So, when you have a Senior Fair like this with free food, candy and gifts, it’s just wonderful.”

Another visitor was Indiana State Senator Brian Buchanan, who has become one of the sponsors of the event.

“It’s a  great day, great event,” said Buchanan. “A lot of community businesses are here and a lot of seniors are here. It’s a great place to network and showcase opportunities and the things that help the seniors in Frankfort and Clinton County.”

“I just enjoy participating in community events like this across my senate district and that’s why I came up,” he continued. “To see  every one and talk to people. This is a great event to talk to people and see what’s on their mind.”

In addition to all the food and gifts available, flu and pneumonia shots were also variable through the Clinton County Health Department Insurance and Medicare filing was available, Visitors could also play Bingo and register for the grand prize which was a $500 shopping spree. Live entertainment was provided by The Moon Cats.
