Commissioners Approve Amended Agreement with HWC

The Clinton County Commissioners approved making an amendment to their original economic development plan with HWC Engineering Tuesday morning.

“We altered the agreement to include funding for general mapping and some preliminary engineering for our project (out to I-65),” said Commissioners’ President Josh Uitts. “We’ve set the stage for it and we’re ready to proceed.”

In other news, the Commissioners received requests for two not-for-profits for additional funding for their agencies. Those two agencies were the Clinton County Humane Society and the Clinton County Boys and Girls Club.

“We received two requests for some help with their funding which is not something unusual,” said Uitts. “We do have experience supporting both of these entities in the past.”

The Commissioners help fund the Clinton County Humane Society with $95,000 with tipping fees from the Clinton County Landfill. The Humane Society requested an additional $5,000 in tipping fees to make it an even $100,000. Uitts said the Commissioners support that request and they will do what they can to make sure that request happens.

The Clinton County Boys and Girls Club requested an extra $15,000 to help with their after school programs.

“Our recommendation to them was to make their request for the 2019 budget year,” said Uitts. “We’re going to try and find a pro-rated amount in this year’s budget to get them some early help. We’re a big enough believer in what they are doing at the Boys and Girls Club.”
