Donna Jean Short, 70, of Camden, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at IU Arnett in Lafayette. She was born on May 4, 1947, in New Castle, Penn., the daughter of the late Bill and Margaret (Johnson) Fair. On March 18, 1989, in Flora, she married Gary Short; he survives.
Donna worked for Dinner Bell in Burlington as a grill cook and at Van’s Country Breeze Inn. She was a member of the Valley Baptist Missionary Church in Flora and The Church of God in Lafayette. Donna loved cooking, shopping, talking on the phone, and drinking ice water. She loved spending time with her family.
Surviving relatives include her husband of 28 years, sons, David (Dianna) Hicks, of Camden, and James (Tracy) Hicks, of Malcomb, Ill.; step children, Brandi Jo Daniel, of Lafayette, Gary (Jannelle) Short Jr., of West Lafayette, and Robert Allen (Brandi J.) Short, of Utah; sister, Cheryl (Jason) Greek of Kinston, NC; 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William Fair and James Black.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora, from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Ed Underwood will officiate. Burial will follow in Paint Creek Cemetery in Camden. Memorial contributions in Donna’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
