The rain did not dampen spirits too much at the annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast and Free I.U. Heath Fair Saturday morning.
CPA Kiwanian Steve Beardsley and others arrived at the Edward Jones Building Saturday at the Fairgrounds by 5:30 AM to be prepared for the several hundred visitors hungry for pancakes, biscuits and gravy and sausage. Frankfort Kiwanis has held the breakfast fundraiser on a Saturday in early in May for at least six decades going back to the 1960’s. The Health Fair has been part of the big day since the ‘80s.
The first hospital health fair was held in the ‘80s on the grass with a tent directly in front of the hospital. It soon migrated across Jackson Street to Clinton Hall and combined forces with the Frankfort Kiwanis Club.
