WLFI is reporting that a multi-vehicle crash has closed southbound Interstate 65 in Clinton County. According to Sgt. Kim Riley with the Indiana State Police, one person is dead and another has been airlifted from the scene.
As of 3:15 p.m. Thursday, I-65 southbound was still closed.
The crash happened after 9 a.m. near the State Road 28 exit. Riley said southbound drivers are being detoured off the interstate about 10 miles north at the Dayton/State Road 38 exit. From there, Riley said to take U.S. 52 and go south to State Road 37, and back to the interstate.
Riley said there were multiple semis and cars involved in the initial crash. He said there is at least once other crash due to the backup.
The road is expected to be closed for several hours as crews reconstruct the scene and clean up the wreckage.
