Mark E. Thompson, 60, a life-long Frankfort resident, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 21, 2019, at his home. He was born May 8, 1959, to Carlos “Chink” and Phyllis (Haverstick) Thompson.
In 1978, Mark graduated from Frankfort High School and later achieved multiple certifications. Mark had worked at General Seating as an engineer where he was able to travel to Japan, explore robotics, and received a proof of patent. He had later worked at C.F. Industries and then Skiles Electric. Mark was an active member of the Frankfort Moose Lodge, their past Governor, and member of their Legion. He was a hands-on guy that spent time out in his shop and worked on things like his ’88 Blazer or built things like his small airplane, skills he hoped to pass onto his grandchildren.
Surviving Mark are his fiancé, Dianna Leopard, of Frankfort; children, Derrick (Kelsey) Thompson, of Indianapolis, Chase (Jacki) Thompson, Blake Thompson, Alex Thompson, Amanda (Tony) Rios, Andrea (Nick) Taylor, and Brittany Leopard (fiancé, Andrew), all of Frankfort, and Chris Leopard, of Lafayette; brothers, Bruce (Natalie) Thompson, of Tipton, and Scott Thompson (fiancé, Deidra), of Brooksville, Fla.; sister-in-law, Wendy Thompson, of Frankfort; and ten grandchildren, Raelyn, Delaney, Kyson, Ramsey, Corbin, Caydence, Conner, Cooper, Madison, and Sami.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry “Mongo” Thompson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019, at the Frankfort Moose Lodge from 4:00 p.m. to the start of the Celebration of Life service at 6:00 p.m. An inurnment will be held at a later date.
