Donald “Don” Rhea Niemann, 87, of Frankfort, passed away May 8, 2021 at his home. He was born March 10, 1934 in Pleasant View, Indiana to Gustav Paul and Edna C. (Brinkman) Niemann. He married Diane Ely on April 28, 1985 in Shelbyville, IN; she survives.
Don graduated from Moral Township High School in Shelbyville and was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church. He worked for Mallory Controls, from 1952 to 1985, in many management positions, in Pana, IL, Warsaw, NY, Camden, TN, and Frankfort, IN. After Mallory’s, he was a heavy machinery salesman selling machinery to factories. Don loved to fish and enjoyed his many trips to Canada. He was an avid Colts fan, enjoyed woodworking, yard work, his dogs, but most importantly, Don loved spending time with his grandkids and attending their ball games.
Don is survived by his wife, Diane of Frankfort; his children, Bruce (Carol) Niemann of Sheridan, Brian (Carla) Niemann of Jeffersonville, Janice Niemann (fiancé, Tim Horton) of Denver, Colorado, Angie (Ben) McCracken of South Carolina, Kelly (Mike) Harmon of Columbus, Travis Stidham of Frankfort, and Ross Burnett of Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Kody, Jade, MacKenzie, Taylor, Kaleb, Hanna, Jordan, Reese, Rhett, Luke, Kaylie, and Mike, and great grandsons, Lane and Wesley.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dawn Marie Niemann; son, Randy Rhea Niemann; brother, Dale Niemann, and a sister, Ann Niemann.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 5:00 until the start of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Pastor Paul Whitaker will officiate.
