Sandra Lou Nickols, 85, formerly of Frankfort, passed away on the evening of Sunday, January 31st, at the Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada from Covid19. She was born on September 26th, 1935, in Kempton, IN to Claude and Edith (Amos) Johnson. She was the 3rd of four children: Brice Johnson, Bruce Johnson, and Myrna (Johnson) Brown of Kempton.
She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1953 and was involved in 19 clubs and extracurricular activities including Class treasurer, Booster President, FHA Historian, Band President, Glee Club, Operetta, Class play, Follies, 4-H, and School paper. She enjoyed a career of more than 30 years working with local farmers at the Clinton County ASCS office under the United States Department of Agriculture.
Sandra was known for her big personality, amazing laugh, and her giving heart. She loved to travel, whether it be it with her work family to conventions, the many trips and outings with her lifelong friends, or with her family for vacations. She was at her happiest living at Little Lakes Estates from 1973-2007 where she loved hosting gatherings including toga parties, Memorial Day BBQs, and carrying on Granny’s traditional Christmas Eve dinner. She was always up for a party.
Her three children, family, and friends were always her highest priority. She worked tirelessly over the years providing for and supporting her children, creating amazing, lasting memories for all. Sandra moved to Las Vegas in 2007 to join her daughter and grandkids for the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Roni (Nickols) Corrick, of Las Vegas; son-in-law, Randy Bushman; five grandchildren, Stephen, Preston, and Helen Corrick of Las Vegas, Jason (Kieonna) Lane and Chad Bushman of Clearwater, FL, and two great granddaughters.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, siblings; son, Del Clark; daughter, Dawn (Clark) Bushman; and life companion, Stan Loveless.
Memorial visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the start of the celebration of life at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. A private inurnment was held at Kempton Cemetery.
Immediately following the service the family will host a BBQ/Pot Luck at Little Lakes Estates Beach for all who would like to attend.
