Emmett W. Frey

Emmett W. Frey, 90, of rural Rossville, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022, at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.  He was born May 5, 1931, in Carroll County, to Harold E. and Sylvia D. (Gochenour) Frey.  On May 11, 1952, he married Patricia A. Dunk. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2020.

Emmett graduated from Rossville High School in 1949. From March 1953 to March 1955, he served in the Army during the Korean War. Emmett was a life-long farmer north of Rossville in Carroll County retiring in 1995. He was a longtime member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau where he had served as President of the Clay Township Chapter and the Clinton County Camper Club. He and Pat squared danced themselves all over the state for many years. They were “snowbirds” in Florida, at Fort Myers Beach, for over 40 years and enjoyed attending the Carroll County Days there. He was a former member of the Rossville United Methodist Church and the Dayton United Methodist Church as well as other churches in Florida. Emmett always enjoyed riding his golf cart all over and would usually know just how far it would go on a charge.

Emmett is survived by sons, Jerry (Janice) and Larry (Jennifer); daughters, Debra (Steve) Mulligan, Julia (Phillip) Gable, and Jane (Chris) Skiles all from Rossville; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Pat, he is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Thelma Whitehead and Bonnie Snouwaert.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 and one hour prior to the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel. Funeral services will start at 10:30 a.m. with a live stream available at www.gendafuneralhome.com for those who would like to join virtually. Pastor Alan Downing will officiate.
