The Clinton County Special Olympics basketball teams showed up to play at the state tournament on Saturday and Sunday, bringing home top placements throughout the day.
On Saturday, the 5v5 team secured a silver placement after competing hard in the championship game. Clinton County Special Olympics Coordinator Crissy Early expressed that the Thundercats should be proud of their accomplishment as the team was bumped up this year into a more competitive division.
On Sunday, the basketball season came to a close as the women’s 3v3 team earned bronze medals and the men’s team earned fourth place overall.
“This year was a restructure year to see what worked best for our players, and they will only get better and stronger from here,” Earl wrote. “Thank you coaches and parents for being so involved and supportive this season.”
Now that basketball season has concluded, track and field practices have been announced beginning Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m. at the Clinton Prairie track, weather permitting. Track and field marks one of multiple summer games sports.
As well, volleyball practices will kick off on Thursday, April 4 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Frankfort Middle School gym. According to Earl, any new athletes must complete online registration as well as a physical to practice. Volleyball acts as another summer games sport and commitment.
