Lebanon Wins Sectional Championship

The Lebanon Tigers won the Sectional 20 Championship Friday night, defeating the Logansport Berries 21-17.

It is the Tigers’ first Sectional Championship since 1997.

The Berries struck first, midway through the first quarter, with a five-yard touchdown pass to make it 7-0.

The Tigers responded as Chris Hill found Tannon Monden in the back of the endzone from 18 yards out to tie the game at seven.

Both defenses held serve for most of the second quarter before Hill found Jake Jones on 24 24-yard strike to take a 14-7 lead.

Logansport’s Dylan Hamm drilled a 40-yard field goal before the half, making it 14-10.

The Berries got the ball out of halftime and scored to retake the lead 17-14.

On the next drive from Lebanon, Chris Hill pulled the ball on an option and found the endzone from nine yards away, taking the lead 21-17.

The Tigers and Berries traded empty possessions for most of the fourth before the Berries went for it on fourth down from the Lebanon 14-yard line with under three minutes to go. The Berries pass was incomplete, and Lebanon took over on downs.

With under a minute remaining, Lebanon lined up to punt it back to Logansport, but a penalty gave Lebanon a first down, allowing them to end the game.
