Todd Corrie, General Manager of the Frankfort Municipal Utilities was a guest on WILO’s Party Line Program Wednesday, November 26th. Phone lines were open to the public throughout the program. You can listen to the interview by clicking the link below.
Topics included the following:
- The proposed Clinton County Data Center is a “closed loop” water system and once charged, will require relatively little water. Corrie was asked if some current Frankfort customers consume more water than the proposed Data Center system. Corrie’s answer was “yes.” This is because, with the closed loop water cooling system, water does not need to be added to the closed loop system, except to occasionally recharge. (Think of a car radiator cooling system). Publishers Note: During about 15-20 days per year when temperatures exceed 90 degrees, the closed loop system will be aided by water mist cooling but this would typically be utilized less than 15-20 days each year. This is approximately 5.5% of the days, depending on the number of days exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit per year.
- During the program Corrie was asked about electricity rates and the likelihood of FMU (Frankfort Municipal Utilities) electrical rates rising due to the presence of the proposed Data Center. Corrie’s answer: ‘rates would not be impacted’ due to the Data Center coming on line.
- Corrie was asked about drops or interuptions in electrical service if the proposed Data Center were online. Corrie said the data center would be on a separate grid or system than existing service and that IMPA (Indiana Municipal Power Agency) has 350 MW of power already available and the Data Center would draw about 300 MW, giving a buffer of excess unused power and drops or interruptions would not occur. IMPA is a not-for-profit wholesale electric power provider that serves 61 cities and towns in Indiana and Ohio including Frankfort.
