The Keystone Cooperative Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the Alexander family of Tipton County, is proud to announce Sophia Walker and Cadince Hussey as the 2025 recipients of the Gregg Alexander Memorial Scholarship. Each student will receive a $2,000 scholarship to support their studies at Purdue University’s College of Agriculture.

Meet the 2025 Recipients

Sophia Walker, a graduate of Tipton High School, is pursuing a degree in biochemistry and plans to become a large animal veterinarian with a focus on beef cattle and swine production. Her passion for livestock health was developed through her involvement in 4-H and FFA.
“My goal is to provide a reliable and consistent veterinary presence for producers, clients, and animal owners in my community,” Walker said.

Cadince Hussey, also a Tipton High School graduate, is majoring in agribusiness. She hopes to build a career helping local farmers strengthen and expand their operations.
“I am committed to pursuing a meaningful career in agriculture and giving back to the farming community,” Hussey shared.

The Gregg Alexander Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of Gregg D. Alexander, a lifelong farmer, Keystone Cooperative board member, and respected leader in rural Tipton County. Known for his generosity, humor, and deep dedication to agriculture, Alexander was a strong advocate for community-centered initiatives. One of his final projects included organizing a back-to-school outreach event that provided backpacks, school supplies, and free haircuts for local children.

The scholarship reflects Alexander’s belief in education, agriculture, and community service. It is awarded annually to Purdue University seniors who are graduates of Tipton, Tri-Central, or Clinton Central High Schools, or who reside in Tipton or Clinton counties.

“Gregg was a farmer at heart who truly enjoyed educating others about agriculture and passing on its heritage,” said Joni Alexander, Gregg’s widow. “He wanted people to understand the importance of agriculture. Congratulations to the 2025 recipients. Our family wishes them continued success.”

“Gregg was a respected leader and valued member of our cooperative board,” said Kevin Still, President and CEO of Keystone Cooperative. “He was deeply committed to people, agriculture, and strengthening rural communities.”
