Porter Dion Shelton Jr., age 48, of Frankfort, passed away on April 30, 2026, at IU Arnett in Lafayette. He was born on April 27, 1978, in Frankfort to Porter Shelton Sr. and Vonita Melton.

Porter attended Frankfort High School, and soon after began a long and dedicated career in construction, where he took great pride in his work as a roofer. He grew up attending Victory Chapel Church and maintained a special and personal relationship with his Savior throughout his life.

In his free time, Porter could often be found playing basketball or cheering on the Indianapolis Colts. He also enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, and hunting arrowheads with his loved ones whenever he had the opportunity. Porter will be remembered for his kind and outgoing nature, often ensuring that those around him left with a smile or a story to share. Above all, he was deeply devoted to his family and loved them fiercely.

He is survived by his mother and step father, Vonita and Tom Melton: children, Nathan (Janelle) Shelton, Erin (Marquis McDonald) Shelton, and their mother, Carrie McGill, as well as son Neveah (Alexis) Crider, and his mother, Tisha Crider; siblings, Peter (Melissa) Shelton, Cassi (Tyler Knutson) Martinez, Amber (Josh Arreaga) Shelton, Zach (Yasmine) Parsons, Candice Coonrod, and Charissa (Mike) Hayes; and his granddaughter, Luna McDonald.

Porter is preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bunnell Cemetery.
