The Delphi Preservation Society is inviting community members to a special informational meeting on May 30 from 10 a.m. to noon to learn more about the “All Aboard! Save the Interurban” campaign and ongoing efforts to preserve Delphi’s historic Interurban Train Station.
The event will give residents an opportunity to see the historic structure, hear plans for restoration, and learn how they can support the preservation project through donations, volunteering, and community involvement.
Organizers say the campaign is about more than saving a building. It is about preserving an important piece of Delphi’s history and creating a lasting educational and tourism asset for future generations.
The station, originally constructed in 1906, once served as part of Indiana’s interurban railway system, connecting Delphi with communities including Lafayette, Logansport, and Fort Wayne during the early 20th century.
The Delphi Preservation Society hopes the restored station will eventually become a self-guided museum highlighting the history of Indiana’s interurban railways and Delphi’s role in that transportation era.
