Robert K. McCoy

Day & Genda Funeral Home

Robert Kenneth “Bob” McCoy, 83, of rural Frankfort, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, surrounded by his family.

Born March 23, 1943, in Carroll County, he was the third of eight children born to Herschel G. and June E. (Hill) McCoy. He attended Frankfort High School. On August 11, 1963, Bob married the love of his life, Janet Jean Withrow, at Michigantown Christian Church.

Bob and Janet spent the majority of their married lives working side-by-side on the family farm. He often could be found driving his prized possession, his International 1206 “Papa’s Pride”. In the early years of their marriage, they milked 40 cows each day. After the death of his father-in-law, Bob continued the Withrow family tradition of driving a school bus for Clinton Central School Corporation for over 20 years, before passing the wheel to Janet. When he retired from farming in the early 90’s, Bob did grain hauling for local farmers and also hauled grain between Purina and local elevators. He officially retired in 2023.

Bob enjoyed being outdoors, as was obvious by his ever-present tan. He and Janet spent several years wintering in Florida and made several friends while there. He enjoyed playing corn hole, dancing, singing karaoke, especially as a part of the group portraying the Soggy Bottom Boys at the Moose, being with friends and especially being “Papaw Bob” and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Moose Lodge #7 (Frankfort), Moose Lodge #1903 (Land O’ Lakes, FL), and Frankfort Fraternal Order of Eagles,

Surviving Bob is his wife of 63 years, Janet; daughters, Pam (Steve) McKinney, Lisa (Richie Allen) McCoy, and Rita (Matt) Mennen; grandchildren, Michael (Alysha) Cline, Kaitlyn (Cruz) Cline-Marquez, Colten (Brittany Goff) Mennen, Koda (Berkley Williams) Allen, and Kylie (Lucas Bass) Mennen; great-grandchildren, Nayeli Hernandez-Cline, Chase Cline, MaKalynn Bray and Brylen McQuinn; siblings, ReBecca Peavey, Richard McCoy, Patricia Perry, Paul McCoy and Gary (Mary) McCoy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William “Bill” (Pauline) McCoy; sister, Barbara (Richard) Spurgeon; brother-in-law, JD Perry, and sister-in-law, Janice (Jerry) McKinzie.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 4 to 8pm at the Frankfort Moose Lodge #7. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Frankfort Moose Lodge #7.
