Richard W. Schooley, 80, of Elkhart and formerly of Frankfort, passed away September 20, 2026 at Elkhart Meadows in Elkhart, Indiana. He was born April 28, 1946 to Lewis Raymond and Ruth Arlene (Chapin) Schooley in Elkhart. He was married to Shirley Schooley for 23 years before separating. Shirley preceded him in death in 2021. He married Linda C. Posey and she preceded him in death on February 19, 2025.
Richard was a student in the Elkhart school system. He worked a number of jobs in his years, including work for a trailer factory, working at Zachary Confections in Frankfort, and working as a handyman for Jim Goar. Richard had a passion for tinkering around on old cars.
Surviving are: his sons, David (Rhoda) Lehman of Nappanee, and Joseph Allan Schooley Ward of Arkansas; daughters, Wanda (Andy) Jarboe, Fran Bray, and Tina Bottoms, all of Frankfort; several grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Wiliam (Helen) Schooley of Bristol, Indiana; and sisters, Judy (Rodell) Bower of Cave City, Arkansas, Mary Laughman of South Bend, Indiana, and Bevery June of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Lewis and Ruth; his wife, Linda; his sons, David Wayne Schooley, and William Leroy Schooley; his daughter, Linda; his grandson; and brothers, Lewis Glenn Schooley and Donald Ray Schooley.
Friends may visit 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Friday, September 25 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort, Indiana.
