Board of Works Approves Added Security for Old Stoney

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved giving Old Stoney added security on Monday.

“We are going to be installing keypads at all four of the outside doors,” said Sheets. “Employees will have a code to get in and we’ll have them (the doors) locked during the day. The only door open to the public will be the north side which is the way it’s been since the COVID.”

Sheets added the main entrance will allow people to come and get out of the weather. A directory will be placed inside the door so people can call who they want to see. Sheets said no one will be able to just walk in like they have in the past.

In other news, a discussion was scheduled to be held on the Frankfort Commons Golf Course. However, that didn’t happen.

“The golf course is being taken care of very well,” said Sheets. “I love the way Jesse (Cacy) has been running the course. We’re having (City Attorney) Les (Bergum) check into the contract because we believe it is just for a year.”

Sheets they will proceed after they see the status of the contract.

The BOW also approved Trick or Treat hours on Halloween. They will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.

“It will still be in the daylight hours,” said Sheets. “It’s going to be up the individual homeowners if they want to be a part of that. They can turn their porch light on to let the kids know, ‘yes, come to my house.’ It also leaves it up to the discretion of the parents if they want their children to be out trick or treating or not.”

With the annual Trick or Treat on the Square in downtown Frankfort likely not happening, the Frankfort Unified Neighborhood (FUN) group is starting to plan a potential Trunk or Treat type of event on Halloween at TPA Park.

“They have talked to me about this,” said Sheets. “We talked about nobody should be out of their vehicles because of the COVID and because of social distancing. So, people are going to go to the vehicles as they go through.”
