State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) gathered with fellow legislators Tuesday at the Statehouse for Organization Day — the ceremonial start of the 121st Indiana General Assembly.
Organization Day is made up of the swearing in of new and returning General Assembly members as well as the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers. This day also allows each Senate and House of Representatives caucus to organize before session officially reconvenes Jan. 3.
The 2019 session is a budget year, meaning lawmakers will craft a comprehensive plan to fund government services for the next two years. By law, the 2019 legislative session must be completed by April 29.
“I’m eager to begin another session to find and develop solutions that address issues facing our community and state,” Buchanan said. “Along with creating and passing a two-year state budget, I intend to help create more jobs for Hoosiers and ensure Indiana schools continue to provide the best learning environment possible for our students.”
As the 2019 session begins, Buchanan encourages residents of Senate District 7 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have by email at [email protected] or by phone at 800-382-9467.
