The Tree Lighting Festival Fund Auction will begin on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. and will continue through Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. Community members may view the items on the Tree Lighting Auction Facebook page once the bidding starts to place their bids in the comment section of the posts. The items will have a minimum bid listed in the description.

The proceeds from the auction will be utilized to fund the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival being hosted on Dec. 2 in downtown Frankfort following the annual Christmas Parade. Organizer MaryLynn Peter expressed that donors, sponsors and auction participants make the festival a possibility for the community to enjoy bonding opportunities with other community members and shop locally with local vendors.

“In order to raise funds for the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival, we went outside the box,” Peter wrote. “We are conducting an online silent auction of some amazing items.”

Cottrell’s Tree Farm donates spruce tree for the upcoming 2023 Christmas Tree Lighting Festival.

The festival has relocated from the courthouse lawn to Prairie Creek Park this year due to the exterior courthouse renovations that kicked off earlier this month. Peter expressed that the traditional aspects of the festival will be maintained at the new location, such as games, food trucks and vendors, as well as the awaited lighting of the Christmas tree, which was donated by Cottrell’s Tree Farm. The tree will take the form of a 10 to 12 foot blue spruce tree that will be displayed at Prairie Creek Park for the festival. The new location will provide a benefit to the event, the Farmers Bank Performance Center Stage, which will feature live performances, announcements and possible new events, such as a lipsync battle.

“I have spoke to the parks Department, and they have agreed that the perfect place to have it is at Prairie Creek Park,” Peter wrote. “I am overly excited about this.”

The online auction is intended to continue raising funds for the festival, and donations may be accepted until the auction begins on Sunday. Contact MaryLynn Peter on Facebook or visit the Tree Lighting Auction Facebook page where the auction will be held for more information.
